Did you know that Thrivent Financial members have two ways to work with the Foley Area CARE Program?
Thrivent Choice is a charitable grant program that gives eligible members of Thrivent Financial the ability to recommend where Thrivent Financial distributes some of its charitable funds each year by choosing from a list of thousands of enrolled 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations. Foley Area CARE is on the list of charitable organizations to choose from for your giving. you can follow the link on our website.
Thrivent Action Team is an online service application which you submit to receive a $250 Visa card that provides seed money to help cover the cost of promotional, production, and material expenses for a project. Service projects can include:
- Building a ramp for the elderly
- Purchase smoke detectors, grab bars, or flashlights for seniors
- Fundraising events
- Purchase gas cards for volunteers
- Minor home repairs
- Purchase fresh produce
- Health and education needs
Recently Ron and Kathy Botzek used their Thrivent Action Team proceeds of $250 to assist CARE with the purchase of pork chops for our annual dinner and silent auction event. Linda Partridge used her action team proceeds to help us purchase items needed for our bake sale. Jean Tiedt used her proceeds to help purchase food for our volunteer appreciation dinner. Russ and Sandy Studenski used their proceeds to help purchase food for our Touching Tables event. And Maxine Olson also used her proceeds to help the CARE program.
Each Thrivent member is allowed 2 service projects to support each year. So this means both you and your spouse can support up to 4 service projects each year. If you have children ages 16 and over, they are also eligible for two service projects each year. Foley Area CARE has many small service projects in need of start-up funds, and the online application is easy and quick to use.
